Terms and Conditions

1. You must be of legal age to drive the tuition vehicle and produce a valid UK/Northern Ireland provisional Category B driving licence at the beginning of you first lesson. You instructor reserves the right to check your licence at any time throughout your ongoing lessons. For refresher or pass plus lessons a full valid driving licence must be produced along with identification as above.

2. In your first lesson, your instructor will test your eyesight. You must meet the minimum eye test requirements, you must be able to read a standard UK approved number plate at a minimum distance of 20.5 metres (67 feet). If you need to wear glasses or contact lenses in order to meet this requirement then you must wear them whenever you drive. A failed eye test, for any reason, will result in not being permitted to drive the tuition vehicle until such time when standards are met.

3. It is your responsibility to notify your driving instructor of any change of your ability or entitlement to have driving tuition, or for example if your provisional licence has been revoked or for medical reasons such as epilepsy or any other condition which could affect your ability to drive.

4. You must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during your training. In the event of there being any signs of alcohol or drug misuse, your instructor will withhold the use of the tuition vehicle for lessons or your driving test until you are in a legal and fit state to drive. Any prescribed medication that may effect your driving should be declared to the instructor and to the DVLA medical board.

5. Cancellations

5a. In order to cancel a lesson for any reason, a minimum of 48 hours notice must be given. Failure to give a minimum of 48 hours notice will automatically result in the lesson or lessons having to be paid for as though they went ahead. Lessons can be cancelled by telephone or text message but must be acknowledged by your instructor.

5b. Your instructor will turn up on time at the agreed pick up point. If you fail to attend for any reason your instructor will wait for up to 10 minutes if there is no contact made between you. After 10 minutes your instructor will leave and you will have to pay for the lesson as though it went ahead.

5c. Your instructor will aim to arrive on time to the pre-arranged pick up location however, due to unforeseen circumstances such as breakdowns, accidents, test bookings, traffic hold ups etc, lesson times may need to change or even be cancelled. If your lesson is cancelled by your Instructor, no fee will be charged. You will have the option to re-book or ask for a refund for that lesson.

5d. If lessons continue to be cancelled by you and/or are rescheduled more than 6 times, your instructor reserves the right to charge for the lesson as though it went ahead.

6. Lessons should be paid for in advance by bank transfer. In exceptional circumstances, your instructor may agree to take cash payment at the start of any lesson.

7. Should you fail to reach a satisfactory standard of driving and are likely to be a danger to yourself, your examiner or other road users, or are in an unfit condition through substance or alcohol abuse as described above, the ADI has a responsibility to the DVSA examiners not to allow the use of the training vehicle for the purpose of the driving test. This is in the interest of the pupil, the examiner and other road users and is a precautionary safety measure. Driving Standards Agency guidelines do not allow for a pupil to take a practical test just for the experience in ADI'S vehicles. The tuition vehicle will only be provided for the test once it is agreed that you have reached a satisfactory standard of independent driving, with minimal input from your instructor.

8. No responsibility can be taken for tests cancelled by the DVSA for whatever reason apart from severe weather. This time will still be charged. The instructor cannot be responsible if you fail because of the eyesight test. Your instructor will be responsible if the test is cancelled due to the condition of the tuition vehicle. If your test is cancelled last minute by the examiner due to an examiner issue or shortage, you will still be charged for this time, you can however claim this amount back from the DVSA.

9. Driving Lesson Payments.

9a. Driving lessons can be paid by bank transfer. In exceptional circumstances we can accept cash.

9b. All lessons must be paid for prior to commencing the lesson and in order to secure it, unless otherwise agreed to. Payments for lessons must be acknowledged by your instructor.

10. Courses and Block Bookings

10a. On our courses which include a driving test we reserve the right to withhold the use of our vehicle for the test if you are not ready to sit the test, should this be the case we will try to avoid the loss of any test fees and warn you more than 3 working days prior to your test as this is the notice the DVSA requires in order to be able to amend or cancel your test booking without losing the test fee.

10b. On any other courses which include a driving test, the test is booked on the condition that you have reached the expected standard for the test. If you are not at an acceptable standard then the driving test should be rescheduled or cancelled.

Tuition Vehicle

11. Please remember that the tuition vehicle needs to be treated in a respectable manner. Any harm/damage caused to the vehicle and if deemed as an irresponsible action by the instructor could be subject to charge for any damages. An example of irresponsible action includes any damages caused after it is agreed that you do not require any assistance in a certain manoeuvre or driving exercise.

Refunds

12. Should we need to refund you for any reason and you have taken the promotional package offer, any lessons already taken will then be charged at the individual, standard hourly lesson prices.

Time Limits

13. Any payments for lessons, or for package offers should be redeemed within 6 months of making payment to us. During this time it is your responsibility to contact your instructor in writing if you are not able to take any of the pre-arranged lessons.
